Rainforest at Chessington

Image
Rainforest at Chessington Chessington's era of retheming and refurbishing rides and areas has continued. The Rainforest is the parks newest area replacing Africa and Toadies Crazy Cars. Here is what I think about the area after visiting on the 20th of March.  Images in this blog are from @the_theme_scene on Twitter as well as myself. Thank you very much for letting me use these photos.  Overall- What used to be a huge plot of land just holding the 1987 attraction Toadies Crazy Cars, which has been in dire needs of TLC for several years. The area has now been opened up, with a path now going through the middle. The area feels very isolated compared to others and is very contained. Inside consists of River Rafts, Jungle Rangers and Treetop Hoppers. There are no facilities in the area but it is located near others so that is not a problem. The theming is strong for the budget they were working with. My favourite part of the area is the entrance portals which look ...

2020 changes at Chessington

Image
Chessington changes of 2020 I had my first visit to Chessington of the year on the 15th of March, also known as annual pass holders day and I was pleasantly surprised with how the park was. Before I get into the changes I just want to mention the amount of people in the event were much lower than last year making it much more bearable. I prefer a 20 minute queue for Vampire over a 180 minute queue for Room On The Broom! Any who here are the changes the park have made. Tomb Blaster After the 2002 dark ride had an appalling 2019 with lots of effects broken and the attraction seeming like a shadow of its former self. With no announcement or teasers going into Tomb Blaster and seeing the changes was a great surprise. There is new music greeting you straight away as you enter the area which is atmospheric, although I still prefer the previous version. The first physical change is the indoor queue section having writing on the wall about a priest, building up a story straight away. Th...

2020 at UK theme parks

Image
2020 at UK theme parks 2020 is gearing up to be quite an exciting season for UK theme parks and in this blog I will be sharing my personal highlights. Paultons Park Paultons Park has slowly been becoming one of the top UK parks since the opening of Peppa Pig Land in 2011. The next new themed area is opening in 2020 and is called Tornado Springs. The location of the new area used to be a field with a few animal enclosures and is located next to Peppa Pig Land. The area contains four new rides and two rethemed ones. The highlight of the new area is Storm Chaser, a Mack spinning coaster, which will be the parks sixth coaster and potentially most thrilling. Other thrill attractions being added includes the Cyclonator, a gyro swing and the Windmill Towers, two family drop rides. The fourth new attraction is Al's Auto Academy which will be a driving school for the younger guests. The rethemed attractions include the former Wave Runner ride which is being renamed Buffalo Fal...

Christmas at UK theme parks

Image
Christmas at UK theme parks! Although the UK theme park season has ended many parks have reopened for December with a Christmas event! In this blog I will be telling you about five of the events I think you have to check out if you want to get a theme park fix in December!  Chessington's Winters Tail This event has been running for a few years now and in my opinion it is one of the best Christmas event in the country. This event is already running and runs up until the 6th of January 2020. There are many activities to do across the resort including meeting Santa and getting a present in Adventure Point as well as cookie decorating next to the Pizza Pasta Buffet. The event this year is marketed around the Julia Donaldson books The Gruffalo and Stickman meaning lots of activities are geared towards them including a Gruffalo show and pop badges. Select rides are open throughout the event including Vampire, The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom as well as the zoo being open....
