Although the UK theme park season has ended many parks have reopened for December with a Christmas event! In this blog I will be telling you about five of the events I think you have to check out if you want to get a theme park fix in December!

Chessington's Winters Tail

This event has been running for a few years now and in my opinion it is one of the best Christmas event in the country. This event is already running and runs up until the 6th of January 2020. There are many activities to do across the resort including meeting Santa and getting a present in Adventure Point as well as cookie decorating next to the Pizza Pasta Buffet. The event this year is marketed around the Julia Donaldson books The Gruffalo and Stickman meaning lots of activities are geared towards them including a Gruffalo show and pop badges. Select rides are open throughout the event including Vampire, The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom as well as the zoo being open. The event usually runs from 10am to 7pm and for an adult costs £28.50. I would definitely recommend this event as Chessington always decorate the park nicely and it looks great in the dark, and also it is free for Merlin annual passholders after Christmas!

Alton Towers Santa's Sleepover

This is quite a new event and one of the first times the resort have opened the park up in the festive period. This event is different to many as you have to be staying on site to be allowed in to the park meaning it is one of the most expensive options if you want a theme park fix in December. Activities happen throughout the day with meet and greets in the hotel happening most hours and a pantomime in the evenings is sure to keep you entertained. The Santa's Sleepover includes a visit to the Alton Towers Waterpark and Extraordinary Golf. The theme park is open from 10am to 5pm and select rides are open including the majority of CBeebies Land, Spinball Whizzer and on select days Hex and Duel. You can also meet Santa throughout the day in the Alton Towers Hotel or in CBeebies Land. In my opinion this event is the best to get you feeling festive and you can turn it into a short break but the price does put a lot of people off with even one adult costing around £160.

Legoland At Christmas

Legoland's Christmas event probably has the most activities and things to do out of all the Christmas events in the UK. There is the usual meeting Santa and present giving, but also a Christmas scavenger hunt, meet and greets and Lego building, as well as one of the strongest ride lineups which includes Ninjago, Dragons Apprentice and Mia's Riding Adventure! The park is open 10am till 7pm most days and you can gain access for only £25, which in my opinion is a great deal considering the amount of activities there are around the park. This event is running until the 24th of December.

Christmas At Paultons

Paultons Park are preparing for a huge 2020 with the opening of Tornado Springs but that does not stop them from opening the park for a great Christmas event. The park has many rides open including the majority of Peppa Pig Land and Lost Kingdom as well as some others. You can meet Santa and his elves as well as the park looking as festive as ever. The Entrance Plaza holds a light show every 15 minutes on the Christmas tree and on Show Street there is a Frosty the Snowman show every day. This event is one of the more pricey ones at £30.75 but is well worth it for what you get from the UK theme park to watch over the coming years. This event is running until the 23rd of December and the park is open from 10am to 4:30pm on most days although there are a few 7pm closures so check the website for more details.

Drayton's Magical Christmas

Most people refer this as the best Christmas event in the UK and it is definitely up there! This event is packed with activities for all the family and mainly focuses on Thomas Land. Santa and elves can also be visited in the old Excalibur ride area and is one of the best themed grotto in the country. All of Thomas Land is open as well as a selection of other family rides such as Wild West Shootout and Accelerator. The Zoo is also open meaning lots of the park is able to be enjoyed by guests. The park is decorated very well and especially Thomas Land which has snow falling over the area every 15 minutes. The biggest draw to the event is the firework show in which happens every night and is around 5 minutes long. This event probably has the biggest draw of all the Christmas events as I feel the park has so many new additions and decorations. The event runs till the 31st of December and costs £24 to get in and enjoy.

I hope you enjoyed this blog and hopefully it can help you make your decision on where to go to get your theme park fix in December.
