The World of Rollercoasters!

The World of Rollercoasters!

Due to the current pandemic a large majority of rollercoasters around the world are sadly standing but not operating. But that doesn't mean I can't write about them and you can't read about them! I hope you enjoy and stay safe. Lets count down what continent has the most coasters!

7. Antarctica

Despite being one of the biggest continents, unsurprisingly they have 0 coasters. Not one! And you thought living in Scotland was hard enough! Although I've heard there may be an RMC coming soon!

6. Oceania

DC Rivals HyperCoaster - Wikiwand
Definitely not a continent you think about when thinking of coasters, or anything really unless its huge spiders! There are 27 located here with Australia being the main contributor with 19. The most famous has to be Mack that is known as DC Rivals Hypercoaster located in Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia, this coaster can be experienced both forwards and backwards and I'm sure many enthusiasts would love to be able to ride.

5. Africa

Oct. 02-7. Tower of Terror - Gold Reef City Theme Park in ...
All though the continent of Africa features in many parks as themed areas it does not hold that many coasters, only 88 in fact and none being wooden! The main contributor is Egypt with 17 with many others only having 1 or 2. The lack of coasters could be down to the high temperatures which would play havoc with the attractions but that does not stop Tower of Terror at Gold Reef City in South Africa. The Giovanola has a huge 165ft drop and towers over the park with its impressive size and theming. Despite the troubled past this is one coaster I'd love to ride!

4. South America

Montezum | Roller Coaster Wiki | FandomSouth America holds 175 coasters with the main contributor being Brazil with 82. A lot of the coasters are clones meaning enthusiasts do not have much incentive to visit the continent famed for its love of football. The country famed for its Amazon rainforest does not have many famous coasters but the Montezum and Hopi Hari looks fun for sure! The 139ft wooden coaster manafactured by PTC is the only one in the continent and looks like a great fun ride!

3. North America

Steel Vengeance Review - Incrediblecoasters
Famed as the coaster capital of the world with 2 of the biggest rollercoaster park chains being based here, Six Flags and Cedar Fair and countless small independant parks as well as the holiday giants such as Disney, Universal and Busch. The continent holds 901 coasters, with 764 being from the United States. The park has a very high rate of wooden coasters with 118 being of the timber persuasion. The highlight for me has to be Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point. The RMC hybrid has so much packed into its layout and is for sure one not to be missed! Just ask anyone who has been on it.

2. Europe

Shambhala (roller coaster) - Wikipedia
Home to the 6 time park of the year award winners Europa Park, the small continent is packed with coasters, 1,284 of them to be exact. The main contributor is Germany with 227 of them. So many bucket list coasters for enthusiasts reside in Europe including Taron, Nemesis, Wild Fire and many more. But the highlight of the continent for me must be Shambhala at Port Aventura, although not the tallest or fastest in the world it is a great coaster and the B&M hyper is one enthusiasts should definitely ride.

1. Asia

Formula Rossa - WikipediaThis continent has only recently became a major player in the theme park industry and is now home to 2,596 coasters at the time of writing, with 1,372 coming from China. The continent is home to the fastest and longest coasters in the world. Many enthusiasts travel there for the coasters and are wowed by the different culture and experience presented by the parks. The highlight coaster for me is Formula Rossa, an Intamin launch coaster located at Ferrari World in the United Arab Emirates which goes from 0-149mph in under 5 seconds. This is a bucket list coaster for all enthusiasts and definitely not one to be missed.
